WHAT IS LIFE WITHOUT A LIFE?

It is fair that not everyone will make it to Forbes’ list of world most influential, most powerful, most successful individuals… or other rating list. It is indeed natural that not everybody’s picture will grace the front page of “Choice” or any other renowned business magazine just as not all signatures will make it to becoming an autograph. It is indisputable that we are currently tolerating some situations, but in our hearts, we could still vouch for a better ambiance if a particular individual is still in our midst.

It’s over forty years now that Nigerian one time military ruler, Muritala R. Muhammed, was brutally assassinated, yet, if you ask anyone who witnessed his administration, you might be convinced that there would never be a leader whose regime will be as favorable as his. To a South African, no leader can hold a candle to Nelson Mandela in spite of his death; some even said if he were alive, the xenophobic attack of 2015 would not have taken place. Perhaps, we would have as well, experience more peace and worry less about the lives and state of affairs of millions of refugees, who are still unable to find refuge in their respective asylum if some groups had chosen tranquility over terror. What was life like when some lives still exist, what is life now when they are no more? Life may leave; Impacts leave never.

How funny it sounds that some people now believe that a ministerial, ambassadorial or any political post is the tool required to make a mark in life. Consequently, they go forth striving mindlessly, struggling heartlessly and killing ruthlessly to claim a seat or post. What a shallow approach! It’s not all about being known or owning a crown, it’s about putting on ground, using what you can afford; a plan, a foundation with lifelong benefits for all and sundry. Justin Rosenstein, an American Programmer and Entrepreneur has this to say: “life is short, youth is finite and opportunities endless. Have you found the intersection of your passion and the potential for world-shaping positive impact? If you don’t have a great idea of your own, there are plenty of great teams that need you- unknown startups and established teams in giant companies alike”.  You want to ask yourself, “what can I do alone or as a team member, and how can I engage it as a tool for turning the word around?” Please do!

The Chosen Prophets (May Allah be pleased with them) were not and never tagged themselves activists, yet, through their activities, they emancipated throngs of people from darkness and show them an already cleaved path of light, which they wouldn’t have discovered owing to ignorance. The truth is, you don’t need to have some medals hung up in your library or room before you deem making impacts fit. Who says a plaque or title is a prerequisite? In your own little way, you can actually make the world a better place to dwell in. “You are here to make a difference, to either improve the world or worsen it. And whether or not you consciously choose to, you will accomplish one or the other”- Richelle. E. Goodrich.

Just a smile can rekindle hope despite having no monetary value attached; the best things in the world rarely demands a ticket or token before being accessed. Nothing is too big, neither is anything to meager to bring to impart others.  “But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days  I  do have are made all the more meaningful and precious and for that I am grateful”- Elizabeth Edwards. Make every day better than the previous, make a positive change, and make a mark! Before you bid the word a bye, try to book an imparting space.  Life without you should not mean nothing, strive to make it mean a lot!

Have a blissful and fulfilling week!
